Moranbah Seniors

A big thanks to those who came down to watch our last home game for this season. Unfortunately we were unable to come away with the win going down to Dysart 2 – Nil. A great effort by the team, even though we were a few key players down we probably played our best game of the season in regards of maintaining our structure and sticking to our game plan. We look forward now to our next game in Emerald where we must come away with some points to have a chance of making the final.

Be sure to come down to the clubhouse this Saturday afternoon, 22nd May for the Senior Hawk’s home game against competition leaders Tieri. Kick off is at 2:30pm. Bar is Open!

A tight game for the 2nd round between Moranbah and Emerald saw us go down 4 – 3 at home. A good turn out of spectators came down to watch the game and hopefully we will have some more supporters for the next two home games. The other 2nd round game in Tieri saw them overcome Dysart with a scoreline of Tieri 5 versus Dysart 1. A great result for Tieri, the new team in the comp this year.

A great start to the senior season where the first round saw the senior Hawks victorious over Dysart with a 2 – nil win away from home in Dysart. Come down to the Moranbah soccer fields on Saturday the 17th April for a Round 2 home game. Kick off will be at 2pm. Canteen & Bar will hopefully be open.

The senior Central Highlands  competition for 2010 is soon to start with the first fixture being held on the 27th of March. This year there are four teams competing with the addition of Tieri and all teams have three home games for the season. The draw can be seen below.

Training will be held on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm to 8pm and will commence on  9th of March. I anticipate that there will be greater attendance for games this year due to the three home games and the continuation of the Social 8’s competition, and therefore to be as fair as possible there will be an attendance record to initial when you come to training. Players who come to training will have preference over players who don’t for the games if we have more than 16 players on game day.

Also this year, we will continue to collect $2 per person for each training session attended (donated to the Junior club) and $10 per game. Last year at $5 per game we only covered the cost of referees & linesmen, and this year we need to look at getting some equipment including game balls and training bibs. Whatever is left over at the end of the season can be used for an end of year break-up.

See you all at training on the 9th.
